In August 2025, OB Amponsah won the Ultimate Comic Challenge at The Idiot Box Comedy Club in Greensboro, North Carolina — becoming the first Ghanaian to take the title.
The competition, now in its 19th year, ran from May with comedians from across the United States battling through elimination rounds. Six finalists made the grand finale on 9 August, where OB finished top of the leaderboard ahead of runner-up Seth Payne and third-placed Jay Stadler.
The prize: a $2,000 cash award and a headlining slot at the club.
Coverage credited his sharp punchlines, international perspective and crowd work for winning over both the audience and the judges.
